Mažeikiai, located close to the northern border of Lithuania, aren’t mentioned in popular tourist routes, but the fact that business people come here more often than holidaymakers enabled some to develop various businesses.
The electrical equipment plant was founded back in 1959, a company manufacturing refrigerator compressors – a decade after that, and the oil processing plant established in the seventies made the not very-well-known city of Mažeikiai the biggest industrial city in Žemaitija.
Mažeikiai has a highly developed business infrastructure for larger companies and it has deeper industrial tradition than other regional cities, therefore further expanding activity in the fields already established here would be especially successful – metal processing and machine manufacture, furniture manufacture, wood processing, food processing, as well as chemistry, medical devices, biotechnologies and other areas of production.
