As someone who got into the workforce young (age 14), I saw what it was like to work for big corporations and frankly, I was not impressed.
These technical analyst type jobs were so damn worker-bee-ey that it’s actually WORSE than other jobs I had already worked by then.
I.e. Being a bartender is WAY more fun than data entry…
So while I didn’t want to sell purses on eBay for a living, I certainly wasn’t going to sell my soul to work a boring desk job or become a software engineer (hah!) any time soon.
That’s when I was super blessed RECRUITMENT came into my life.
NOT HR to be clear! Recruiting is a SALES profession that you’re the agent representing candidates to clients and companies/jobs to candidates.
In other words, it’s a dual-sided sales role where you have to successfully sell to BOTH parties to make a deal come to fruition, off of which you’d collect a very hefty recruitment fee.
Since I got good at doing this, this highly lucrative sales career changed the trajectory of my life.
Finally, I found a fun, enjoyable, and challenging job that I could also reap the rewards of my efforts and investment of time in the form of high commissions, breaking the magical $215k earnings mark at 25 years old.
I’m hardly the first or only person who has seen success in this: In fact, there are PLENTY of these young high earners in our line of work.
Everyday, young people and experienced recruitment professionals are creating immense levels of personal wealth from this line of work and profession you can do from anywhere, in every market.
As long as you give yourself a chance, believe in yourself, want to succeed, and are willing to put in the work, you can do this.
