The Barbados Construction Gateway Training Initiative (BCGTI) was launched in 2022 to upskill the population and provide a core of trained artisans, male and female, to ensure a supply of skilled workers to fill various jobs in response to a boom in the construction industry.
It is expected to generate 5,050 construction jobs of various types and approximately 3,600 full time jobs. Since its inception, the BCGTI has trained 1,552 individuals across four intakes. The BCGTI will be expanded for another year; it is projected that a total of 3,984 persons will be trained, and provided with job attachments opportunities.
